Israeli Court Approves Forced Eviction of Palestinian Bedouins, Amplifying Discrimination

The Plight of Ras Jrabah’s Residents

An Israeli court has recently ruled in favor of the forced eviction of 500 Palestinian Bedouins in the Negev/Naqab region, sparking outrage and condemnation from international human rights organization Amnesty International. The court decision, issued by the Beer’sheva Magistrate’s Court on July 27, requires the residents of the village of Ras Jrabah to leave their homes and vacate the lands they have inhabited for decades by March 2024. Moreover, they are also required to pay a hefty fine of 117,000 NIS (approximately 31,700 USD) to cover legal expenses.

Ras Jrabah’s forced evictions are part of the Israeli authorities’ plan to construct a new neighborhood for the predominantly Jewish Israeli city of Dimona.
